NBD Constructions “No Bad Days” (Canberra)
I’ve been in the construction industry for over 14 years after starting my carpentry apprenticeship in 2007. NBD Constructions was founded in 2012 when an opportunity to take on a large residential project opened up. I recruited a few mates as carpenters or apprentices and off we went. We haven’t looked back since!
NBD Constructions is a team of qualified carpenter builders. We cover all aspects of building including residential, commercial and heritage work.
NBD stands for “No Bad Days” – our team moto since day one. Our company culture has been built around this mantra.
Movement, mindfulness and nutrition mean a lot to me personally. As I get older, I am more conscious of my health – physically and mentally. I want to stay working on the tools for as long as I possibly can so that I can lead by example for other tradies.
Working on the tools, I’m physically fit, but it’s the mental health side that takes more awareness. I stay healthy by checking in with my work mates and myself. I make sure I allow regular time to switch off from work life and dive in to things I enjoy, like spending time with my family, making music and skateboarding.

Working in construction for the past 25 years while raising a family I understand the time pressures and stress that come with the construction industry.
Through my own experience in 2010 with depression I was left mentally and physically burnt out. From there I struggled to find a balance in life and my own mental health. Six years ago I started a regular movement and mindfullness practice with daily yoga and meditation. Within days of starting I felt huge improvements in my wellbeing. They are benefits that I continue to enjoy today. This daily practice has been a life changer for me!!!
Knowing the demands construction can place on us and our families I am proud to share my experience with fellow workers in the hope that they too will enjoy the benefits of mindfulness, movement and great nutrition.
